FAQs
What is a hackathon?
Hackathons are in-person events where designers and developers collaborate to build real projects over a short period.
Where is the fundraised money going?
All funds raised will go directly toward making Hack OC possible. This includes venue costs, food and drinks for participants, supplies, prizes, and overall event logistics. Our goal is to keep the event accessible and affordable while delivering a high-quality experience for everyone involved.
How much will it cost to participate?
We’re still finalizing pricing. Our goal is to keep Hack OC as affordable and accessible as possible, and ticket costs will depend on how much we’re able to fundraise through sponsors and community support. Any funds raised will directly help lower the cost for participants. We’ll share final pricing once fundraising is complete.
Your ticket helps cover:
- Venue costs
- Breakfast and lunch during the event
- Supplies and materials
- Prizes and awards
- Event operations and logistics
We’re actively fundraising to keep ticket prices as low and accessible as possible.
Who should attend?
Hack OC is open to:
- Designers (UX/UI, visual, product)
- Developers (frontend, backend, full-stack)
- Product managers, founders, and business strategists
- Students, career switchers, and professionals
All experience levels are welcome — curiosity, collaboration, and willingness to build matter most.
Why should I attend Hack OC?
Why attend Hack OC?
- A tangible project to add to your resume or portfolio
- Hands-on experience working cross-functionally
- New connections within the OC tech community
- Feedback from mentors and judges
- A fun, high-energy, collaborative experience
Do I need to know how to code or design?
No — non-technical roles are just as important. Product thinkers, marketers, strategists, and organizers all play a key role in shaping successful projects.
Is this an official Figma event?
Hack OC is organized by the local community and is not an official Figma-sponsored event, though it is supported by Friends of Figma organizers.
